BBA – Bachelor of Business Administration

Case-study teaching, a compulsory summer internship, and specialisation from the third year.

BBA is taught here through cases rather than through definitions. Students analyse real firms — including plywood and paper units in the Yamunanagar belt that agreed to share anonymised data — and defend recommendations in front of the class. It is uncomfortable in the first semester and it is the single most useful thing the programme does.

An eight-week summer internship between the second and third year is compulsory and assessed. From the third year students specialise in marketing, human resources or finance. The programme is also the natural feeder into MBA entrance preparation, which the department supports with aptitude sessions from the fifth semester.

Who Can Apply

Pass in 10+2 from any stream with a minimum of 50% aggregate.

Admission is granted strictly on the merit of the qualifying examination, following the reservation policy of the Government of Haryana. There is no capitation or donation charge of any kind.

Questions

Frequently Asked About This Course

It is employable on its own in sales, operations and HR-executive roles, but be honest with yourself: the majority of BBA graduates who reach management positions do an MBA within five years. Treat BBA as the foundation and start aptitude preparation in the fifth semester.

The placement cell maintains a list of firms in Yamunanagar, Ambala and Chandigarh that take our students each year. You may also arrange your own, subject to departmental approval of the role and a supervisor being available for assessment.

At the start of the third year, after two years of studying marketing, HR and finance. Seats in each specialisation are allotted on the basis of preference and prior performance if a stream is oversubscribed.

B.Com. is technical and accounting-heavy; BBA is broader and management-oriented, with more presentations, projects and case discussion. If you want to be an accountant or CA, choose B.Com. If you want general management or intend to do an MBA, choose BBA.
