B.A. (Honours) English
Four years of close reading, argument and writing — the degree that changes how you think, not just what you know.
The widest subject choice on campus, and the degree that opens the most competitive-examination doors.
The B.A. is the most widely taken programme at this college, and also the most misunderstood one. It is not a fallback. It is the degree that produces the largest number of our successful HSSC, SSC, banking and teaching-service candidates, for the simple reason that its subjects — history, political science, economics, sociology and language — are the same subjects those examinations test.
You choose any three core subjects from a pool of eight, and under the NEP framework you add multidisciplinary electives, a skill-enhancement course and a value-education paper. A student can therefore combine History and Political Science with a minor in Computer Applications, which was impossible under the old scheme.
Pass in 10+2 from any recognised board with a minimum of 45% aggregate (40% for reserved categories).
Admission is granted strictly on the merit of the qualifying examination, following the reservation policy of the Government of Haryana. There is no capitation or donation charge of any kind.
English, Hindi, History, Political Science, Economics, Sociology, Geography and Punjabi — pick any three that genuinely interest you.
A free guidance circle for HSSC, SSC, banking and defence aspirants, with a dedicated section in the central library.
Lectures run in both Hindi and English so that a Hindi-medium student is never left behind in the first semester.
Leave with a certificate after year one, a diploma after year two, a degree after year three, or continue to honours.
The structure below follows the Kurukshetra University syllabus under the NEP 2020 framework. Papers are revised by the university periodically — the department publishes the current detailed syllabus at the start of each session.
Where our graduates from this programme actually go — based on alumni records, not projections.
HSSC, SSC-CGL, UPSC and state civil services — the syllabus overlap is the largest of any degree.
Proceed to M.A. and B.Ed. for TGT/PGT posts, or clear CTET after graduation.
IBPS and SBI clerical and probationary officer examinations are open to all graduates.
Three-year LL.B. after graduation, a common route for our Political Science students.
Post-graduate diploma in mass communication, or direct entry into regional media houses.
NGO programme roles, rural development and public policy research assistantships.
Four years of close reading, argument and writing — the degree that changes how you think, not just what you know.
Quantitative training inside a humanities degree — the combination most in demand for analyst and policy roles.
For students who already know they want to teach, counsel or work with children.
