Arts

B.A. (Humanities)

The widest subject choice on campus, and the degree that opens the most competitive-examination doors.

The B.A. is the most widely taken programme at this college, and also the most misunderstood one. It is not a fallback. It is the degree that produces the largest number of our successful HSSC, SSC, banking and teaching-service candidates, for the simple reason that its subjects — history, political science, economics, sociology and language — are the same subjects those examinations test.

You choose any three core subjects from a pool of eight, and under the NEP framework you add multidisciplinary electives, a skill-enhancement course and a value-education paper. A student can therefore combine History and Political Science with a minor in Computer Applications, which was impossible under the old scheme.

Who Can Apply

Pass in 10+2 from any recognised board with a minimum of 45% aggregate (40% for reserved categories).

Admission is granted strictly on the merit of the qualifying examination, following the reservation policy of the Government of Haryana. There is no capitation or donation charge of any kind.

Questions

Frequently Asked About This Course

For any recruitment that specifies "graduate in any discipline" — which covers most banking, railway, defence and state government posts — a B.A. is exactly equivalent to any other degree. Where it loses ground is in technical roles, which is why we insist every B.A. student takes at least one skill certificate.

Yes, within the first three weeks of the first semester and subject to seat availability in the subject you want to move into. After that, a change requires the Principal's written approval and is rarely granted.

History, Political Science and Economics covers the largest share of the general studies syllabus for HSSC and UPSC. If you are aiming at banking, replace History with Economics-heavy options and take the Excel skill course.

Both. Language papers are taught in the language concerned; other subjects are taught bilingually, and examinations may be answered in either Hindi or English.
