Maharaja Agrasen College, Jagadhri is a co-educational degree college situated on Radaur Road in Yamunanagar district, Haryana. It was established in 1971 by the Maharaja Agrasen Educational Society — a group of local traders, teachers and retired officers who pooled land and money so that the children of Jagadhri would not have to travel to Ambala or Karnal for a degree.
The college is permanently affiliated to Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra and is recognised by the University Grants Commission under Sections 2(f) and 12(B). It is accredited by NAAC and follows the four-year undergraduate framework introduced under the National Education Policy 2020.

“A college is not its buildings. It is the quality of the conversation that happens inside them — between a teacher and a student who is finally being taken seriously.”
Every August, I meet a batch of students who are the first in their family to reach a college gate. Some of them have travelled 30 kilometres by bus. Some have argued at home for the right to continue studying. Our responsibility towards them is not sentimental — it is technical. It means classes that actually start on time, practicals that are actually conducted, and an office that answers questions without making anyone feel small.
Over the last five years we have added two computer laboratories, digitised the entire library catalogue, started six skill-enhancement certificate courses and taken our placement conversion from 18% to 41%. There is a great deal still left to do, and we publish our shortcomings in our annual quality report rather than hiding them.
If you are considering this college for yourself or for your child, I invite you to walk in unannounced on any working day. Sit in a lecture. Visit the library. Ask any student what they think. That is the most honest prospectus we can offer.
The college is administered by a 15-member Governing Body chaired by the President of the Maharaja Agrasen Educational Society, with the Principal as Member Secretary and two university nominees. Day-to-day academic decisions rest with the Staff Council and eleven standing committees.
